Frequently Asked Questions

Navigating therapy can raise many questions and we want to ensure you feel informed and comfortable every step of the way. Our FAQ’s section is designed to clarify any uncertainties, so you can focus on your journey towards well-being with peace of mind.

How long does each therapy session last?

Each therapy session typically lasts for 50 minutes. This allows ample time for a meaningful discussion. Your counsellor is committed to ensuring that each session provides the depth and focus needed for your progress.

Is what I discuss in therapy confidential?

Absolutely. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of the therapeutic process. Everything discussed in therapy stays between you and your therapist, with the exception of certain ethical obligations to report, which will be explained prior to and in your first session.

What can I expect in my first therapy session?

In your initial session, you’ll have the opportunity to share your story in a safe and confidential space. Together, you and your counsellor will discuss your personal goals for therapy, gently begin to explore your challenges and strengths, and outline a path for your therapeutic journey ahead. While we’ll touch on these aspects, please know that you’re in control of what we delve into. Your comfort and readiness are paramount, and we welcome any exploration that feels right for you. The initial session provides an opportunity for you to gain insight into the services your therapist offers and determine if this therapeutic partnership feels right for you.

Are your services covered by Insurance?

Most insurance companies cover psychotherapy services. Please double check with your insurance company as your coverage may differ depending on your plan. Receipts will be issued to you, for reimbursement upon payment.

If you do not have third party insurance, services provided by Registered Psychotherapists in Ontario are tax deductible under medical expenses on your annual tax return. Further information can be found on the CRA website listed under CRA: Authorized Medical Practitioners.

How are payments processed?

We utilize Jane, a secure booking system that is PCI compliant for payment processing. Upon booking your first appointment, you can securely add your credit card information. Payments will be processed after each session using the card on file.
